As Christ followers we have a responsibility to preserve and maintain the green spaces wherever they are found, including in Baltimore City. We must work to eliminate the underlying causes for the visual signs of the dying and death of green spaces. Vacant houses with fallen in roof tops and vacant lots with rotting trash, old tires, abandoned cars, broken furniture, and discarded clothing can been seen throughout our City. Just as important is how we care for our storm drains which feeds our water supply and the health of our bay which supplies our seafood. Perhaps an antidote is for Christ followers to take the initiative and lead. Those of us who embrace the creation stories found in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 can show others how to establish neighborhood "green" teams who will keep our storm drains clean and nurture their urban green spaces. Our Earth deserves better. This Earth Day, April 22, 2021, let us do better.
